Govt mulls legislation on youngsters’ alcohol consumption: Tam

Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Weng said yesterday that the government was considering the possibility of drafting legislation aiming to tackle the excessive consumption of alcoholic drinks by young people.

Tam made the remarks while speaking to reporters at Macau Stadium on the sidelines of the 3rd Macau Popular Sports Games. The two-day event, which is organised by the Sports Bureau (ID) once every two years, ends today.

Tam said that while it was all right for youngsters to drink alcohol in appropriate amounts, they must not become addicted to booze.
