Anti-smoking inspectors fined nine people for smoking e-cigarettes in no-smoking areas in the first 10 months of the year, the Health Bureau (SSM) said in a statement yesterday.
The new version of the Tobacco Prevention and Control Law, which took effect on January 1 this year, also covers e-cigarettes – smoking e-cigarettes is not allowed in no-smoking areas, in addition to conventional cigarettes.
The new law bans the sale of e-cigarettes in Macau and also prohibits the display of tobacco products in shops. However, shop owners are still allowed to sell tobacco products and display a tobacco price list.
