A Hong Kong man carried HK$3 million in cash into Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) which was seized at the bridge’s Macau border checkpoint on Tuesday last week, the Macau Customs Service said in a statement on Saturday.
The man entered Macau across the bridge, when Customs officers intercepted him in the green channel (nothing to declare) at the “Macau Port” checkpoint.
Customs officers found a large amount of undeclared cash in the man’s luggage. The statement said that the man claimed that HK$2 million was in his bag, but after verification, the total turned out to be HK$3 million.
