Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) Director Susana Wong Soi Man said yesterday that during the first month following the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) in late October, the number of ferry passengers at the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal in Zape and the Taipa Ferry Terminal in Pac On decreased by 20 percent compared to the same period of last year.

Wong revealed the decline while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a public event on Guia Hill. For the event, the bureau organised hundreds of residents to walk on a trail on the hill with the aim of promoting water saving awareness.

The delta bridge came into operation on October 24, following its inauguration by President Xi Jinping on the previous day.
