Two women were arrested last night when police officers carried out a raid and uncovered a haul of 1.2 million patacas worth of ketamine and “happy powder” disguised as sweets and condoms the suspects had in their possession.

According to a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson at the scene of the raid, the two women are a 33-year-old surnamed Zhao from the mainland who claimed to be jobless and a 49-year-old local resident surnamed Lam who works as an investment consultant.

The spokesman said that the duo were suspected of having been involved in a previous drug case, and so after investigating, police officers at 4 p.m. stopped and searched Zhao and discovered she was carrying a quantity of drugs, and when the officers took the suspect to a flat in Nape, they found about 30 packets of sweets that in fact contained ketamine, weighing a total of 600 grammes, valued at 1.2 million patacas.
