A mainland woman was raped in a hotel room in Cotai last Thursday by a male compatriot she had met in Macau and went to gamble with, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lai Man Vai said yesterday at a regular press conference.
Lai said that the victim, a woman in her 30s and the 33-year-old man surnamed Yang met in Macau and went to gamble together. Last Wednesday, the victim and Yeung met for the second time and went to gamble again. The victim booked a hotel room in Cotai in her name and invited Yang to stay with her. The next day at 9 a.m. the victim went back to the hotel room to rest after gambling and Yeung went with her.
When both of them got to the room, Yang allegedly held her down on the bed and forced himself on her despite her telling to stop, raping her. When Yang went to the toilet, the victim seized her chance and called the police, according to Lai.
