HONG KONG – Macau will take part in a trilateral symposium in Hong Kong next week about the development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said yesterday.
Speaking to reporters in Hong Kong, Lam also said the central government would announce its outline development plan for the Greater Bay Area “within days”.
The initiative is intended to build closer links between Hong Kong, Macau, and nine cities in Guangdong.
Lam said a symposium on the plan will be held in Hong Kong next Thursday, when officials from Macau and Guangdong will visit the city.
She said the GBA development was about using the strengths of the area’s different cities to build a stronger economy, and it would not undermine the “One Country, Two Systems” principle.
