Following Tuesday morning’s fire in a One Central flat, a police investigation found that it was started by one or both of the two women who accompanied their friend to confront her boyfriend whom she suspected was having a love affair that resulted in a fight and major damage to the furniture and décor in the flat.
Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chan Wun Man said during a regular press conference yesterday that the two women were suspected of starting the fire that completely gutted the living room’s curtains.
According to the spokesman, after taking over the case from the Fire Services Bureau on Tuesday, the police detained a 28-year-old woman surnamed He from the mainland, who admitted to causing damage to the flat, but denied she had set anything on fire that day.
