A male non-resident worker from Indonesia has been arrested for impersonating a local immigration officer and cheating a Filipina out of 14,000 patacas by claiming that he could help her get a work permit in Macau, Public Police Security Force (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Lam identified the suspect as a 23-year-old non-resident worker surnamed Febriyanto who works in a local spa. The surname of the victim was not released. Febriyanto used two fake names in the scam, Ah Long and Kuan.
The victim reported the case to the Public Security Police in mid-November last year. She told the police that she was looking for a job in Macau and met a man called Ah-Long on a social media platform, whom she had never met face to face. The man told the victim that he could introduce a man surnamed Kuan who would be able to get her a “blue card” but she needed to pay a “service fee” in advance, according to Lam.
The undated handout photo provided by the Public Security Police (PSP) yesterday shows the suspect’s fake Immigration Department staff uniform and bogus Immigration Department staff card as well as his shoes.
The undated handout photo shows a PSP officer escorting the Indonesian suspect to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP).
