The officially estimated unemployment rate of local residents stood at 2.4 percent in the November 2017-January 2018 employment survey period, unchanged from the October-December 2017 survey period, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced yesterday.
According to the DSEC statement, Macau’s general unemployment rate – which comprises locals and non-resident workers – amounted to 1.7 percent in the November 2017-January 2018 survey period, down by 0.1 percent from the previous period.
The total labour force stood at 398,400. The labour force participation rate amounted to 71.5 percent, up by 1.7 percentage points. While total employment was 391,500, the number of employed residents totalled 287,100, up by 3,500 and 3,300 respectively from the previous period.
