Over 90,000 residents have had their flu shots since late last year, Health Bureau (SSM) public health specialist Leong Iek Hou said on the sidelines of a dengue fever awareness event outside Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery in Rua da Piedade yesterday.

According to Leong, there are about 10,000 flu shots left. She urged residents who have yet to have their flu shots to get one free of charge at any of the government’s public health centres, or the vaccination centre at Kiang Wu Hospital.

Leong said the seasonal flu vaccines will not completely prevent anyone from getting the flu, but they will reduce the severity of the symptoms, as well as lower the risk of complications.
