An order of 15,000 doses of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccines have been purchased, of which 5,400 doses are slated to arrive in Macau next week, the Health Bureau said in a statement last night, urging residents not to panic.
According to the statement, an average of 800 people a day went to get MMR vaccinations over the past two days, which is 25 times more than usual.
“It is already affecting the normal operation of our health centres,” the statement said, stressing that the bureau has placed an emergency order of 15,000 doses of MMR vaccines, and the first batch of 5,400 is scheduled to arrive in Macau next week.
