Executive Council spokesman Leong Heng Teng announced yesterday that Macau’s two note-issuing banks will issue up to 10 million units of commemorative 20-pataca banknotes in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR).
Addressing a press conference at Government Headquarters, Leong said that the council, the government’s top advisory body, has completed its discussion of a draft by-law on the issuance of 20-pataca banknotes in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland on December 20 this year.
Government-drafted by-laws, officially known as administrative regulations, do not require the legislature’s approval.
