The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a man from Hong Kong on Thursday for repeatedly beating his local girlfriend over the past five years, a PJ spokesperson said during a regular press conference on Friday.
The spokesperson identified the suspect as a 61-year-old surnamed Leung who told the police that he is unemployed. His girlfriend is a 45-year-old local resident who works as physician. The couple, who are not married, have a five-year-old son. The family of three lives in a flat near the former CEM power station in Areia Preta district.
On Wednesday night, the suspect told the victim off as he was unhappy that their son was playing with a pair of scissors. The suspect punched the victim, which caused her to feel dizzy and nauseous, according to the spokesperson.
