An employer and a member of his staff have been taken to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for impersonation in a road accident where the mainland staff member, whose work permit has expired and therefore doesn’t have a valid licence to drive in Macau, jumped a red light while driving a lorry in Cotai and hitting a scooter rider.

The Public Security Police (PSP) said in a press conference yesterday that the accident happened on Friday afternoon, when a lorry driver jumped the red light and injured a female scooter rider in Cotai.

A PSP spokesperson said that when police arrived to the scene, the lorry driver was not there, and it was a local resident surnamed Wong who later turned up and claimed he was behind the wheel when the accident took place, claiming that he went away to calm himself after seeing the scooter rider, who is in her 20s, bleeding after being hit by his lorry.
