Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa visited the Portuguese School and the Consulate General of Portugal yesterday afternoon.

The school’s pupils gave various performances to welcome the president, such as dancing, singing and a play. Rebelo de Sousa delivered a speech and presented an award to the winning team of a football competition.

A pupil from the football team, surnamed Wong, told The Macau Post Daily that his team won the competition last week and it was a pleasure that the Portuguese president presented the champions with a trophy and their medals yesterday, adding “I only knew about the award-giving arrangement for a short time before the welcoming event so I am surprised and glad”.
