A male tourist from the Philippines beat his girlfriend on many occasions over the past few weeks in the flat they were staying as he was unhappy that he couldn’t find a job here, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said during a regular press conference yesterday.
According to Ho, the 33-year-old suspect came to Macau as a tourist with his girlfriend last month with the aim of landing a job in the city. During their stay in Macau, they rented a flat near Luís de Camões Garden the landlord of which is a local Filipina.
During the about four weeks in Macau, the suspect failed to get hired. He vented his anger on his girlfriend by beating her repeatedly, according to Ho. The suspect’s violence included slapping the victim across the face and squeezing her neck.
