Two local taxi driver groups – the Taxi Drivers Rights Association and Local Drivers Rights Association – plan to hold a slow-drive protest today for a better regulation of taxis and fair enforcement of the law by the police.

Talking to The Macau Post Daily last night, Carlos Cheong, who chairs the Taxi Drivers Rights Association, said that his association would co-organise the protest, adding that he and two other representatives from the two groups had informed the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) about the protest.

He said the main purpose of today’s protest was to express taxi drivers’ demand for the better regulation of the taxi industry and fair law enforcement by the police vis-à-vis taxi drivers.
