BEIJING – Around 100 documents about the official correspondence between the Qing Dynasty officials governing Macau and the Office of the Procurator of the Loyal Senate of Macau, or the then Portuguese authorities in Macau, are going on display in Beijing today.

They are part of more than 3,600 documents, which are known as “Official Records of Macau during the Qing Dynasty (1693-1886)” and were inscribed in the Memory of the World Register in 2017, according to a co-sponsor of the exhibition.

Consisting of records written in Chinese and their Portuguese translations, the documents reflect social conditions, people’s life, urban construction and Macau’s external trade at that time and are important historical records for studying the Macau region in the Qing Dynasty.
