Govt launches insurance scheme for losses of SMEs caused by disasters

The local government announced yesterday that it has launched an insurance scheme for financial losses of local small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) caused by natural disasters, in collaboration with a non-local insurance company and five local insurance companies.

The government has also launched a scheme providing a subsidy of up to 30,000 patacas for eligible companies to pay the annual premium of their policy of the insurance plan – officially known as Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises Major Disaster Property Insurance.

The insurance plan is run and overseen by the Macau Monetary Authority (AMCM) while the subsidy scheme is operated by the Economic Service Bureau (DSE).
