Kai Fong Chairman-cum-Chief Executive Election Committee member Ng Siu Lai pointed out yesterday that as Macau is set to be an ageing society, she hoped that Chief Executive-elect Ho Iat Seng would pay attention to the quality of senior citizens’ retirement and expand the government’s social allowances to local people who live outside Macau elsewhere in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The GBA comprises nine cities in Guangdong province as well as Hong Kong and Macau.
The General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM), commonly known as “Kai Fong”, held a closing ceremony for its 13-day Kai Fong Festival at its headquarters in Avenida do General Castelo Branco yesterday. It was attended by about 100 senior citizens.
Ng told the media during the event that although Ho admitted he was not familiar with the social service sector, he did visit various social service associations during his election campaign period, adding she hoped that Ho could keep visiting the social service sector during his upcoming 5-year term as chief executive and meet the practitioners in order to understand their needs.
