The Judiciary Police (PJ) detained a local man on Thursday for allegedly cheating a mainland businessman in a procurement scam in 2015, PJ spokesman Lai Man Vai said during a regular press conference in Zape yesterday.
According to Lai, the 58-year-old suspect is surnamed Kou. He told the police that he works as a project manager for a local construction company. The victim’s personal information was not released.
According to Lai, Kou committed the fraud in July 2015. Kou told the victim that he was involved in a hotel construction project in Cotai which needed 1,000 tonnes of steel materials.
