The Health Bureau (SSM) said in a statement last night that it has launched an investigation into the suspected illegal provision of vaccines in a private medical centre in Nam Van, following a case in which a one-month old baby received an expired 6-in-1 vaccine (known as Infanrix Hexa) in the centre,
According to the statement, the bureau received a report on Tuesday in which parents took their son, who was not born in Macau, to the medical establishment – Centro Médico de Diagnóstico e Tratamento de Macau – on the 10th floor of Keng Ou Building in Avenida da Praia Grande for a 6-in-1 vaccine.
As the baby had reached the age for a 6-in-1 vaccine, his parents searched on the Internet and found that the medical centre was providing an “instant vaccination service”, and so took their son to the centre to be vaccinated, the statement said.
