A 37-year-old Samoan man was arrested on Monday for attacking a taxi driver and a police officer in Taipa, which he claimed was a traditional way of greeting in Samoa, a Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said yesterday.

Speaking during a press briefing, the spokesperson said the police received a call that a fight had broken out outside a shop in Rua de Chiu Chau in Taipa, at around 11 p.m. on Monday.

The spokesperson said the victim, a 37-year-old taxi driver, told police that while he was waiting for a passenger beside his taxi, the suspect approached him and asked him to shake hands.
