The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a local unemployed man last week for cheating two locals out of a total of 600,000 yuan (679,000 patacas) by claiming that he could assist them in applying for a dual Macau-mainland registration plate for their vehicles PJ spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said during a regular press conference earlier this week.
Addressing Monday’s press conference, Lei identified the suspect as a 26-year-old surnamed Wong, who refused to cooperate with the police following his arrest.
According to Lei, the two victims, a man and a woman, were introduced to Wong by a mutual friend in August last year, when Wong told the two victims that he could apply for a dual Macau-mainland registration plate for each of them, claiming that he could speed up the processing of their respective applications.
