The Macau Customs Service said in a statement on Saturday that its officers busted two separate smuggling cases on the previous day.
The first case happened at the Macau checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB), while the second case occurred at the airport, according to the statement.
In the first case on Friday morning, customs officers intercepted a Hong Kong woman entering Macau at the Macau checkpoint of the delta bridge. They put her shopping trolley through an X-ray scanner, which showed that “suspicious” items were in the trolley. The customs officers seized 22 kilogrammes of dried fish maw valued at about HK$30,000 that did not have sanitary inspection clearance, the statement said, adding that the woman told the customs officers that she merely intended to use the fish maw herself.
