A non-resident worker has fallen for an online love scam, in which she lost HK$13,000, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said during a regular press conference yesterday.

Lei said that the victim is in her thirties. Her surname and nationality were not released.

According to Lei, the victim told the police that she met a “foreign man” through an online social platform in August, after which they quickly started an online relationship and stayed in touch through an app. They never met face to face, Lei said.
