The Judiciary Police (PJ), in collaboration with the Macau Customs Service and the Zhuhai Public Security Bureau, have busted a people-smuggling gang which helped mainlanders enter and leave Macau illegally by hiring a 77-year-old local woman to transport them on a motorised sampan – her “water taxi” – via the Inner Harbour, the two local law enforcement agencies have announced in a joint special press conference.

In a joint operation on Thursday morning, the two local law enforcement agencies jointly caught the suspected kingpin of the gang, the septuagenarian woman and an overstayer in the Inner Harbour near Barra, while the Zhuhai police arrested a suspected member of the gang there, according to the press conference on Friday.

4 months in business
