Macau welcomed over 33 million visitors in the first 10 months of this year and the tourism industry estimates that the total number of visitors will reach 40 million this year
Before its return to the motherland, Macau recorded about 7 million visitors in 1999. Last year, the number of visitor arrivals stood at 35.8 million visitors.
Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes told Xinhua recently that Macau’s booming tourism industry has benefited from the rapid development of the mainland and preferential policies granted by the central government.
