Xi leaves for Beijing after 3-day trip

President Xi Jinping wrapped up his three-day trip to Macau and left for Beijing yesterday afternoon, after attending celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland and the inauguration of the fifth-term government of Macau’s Special Administrative Region (MSAR), among many other activities.

During his stay in Macau, he attended a welcome banquet held by the local government and a variety show, met with former chief executives Edmund Ho Hau Wah and Fernando Chui Sai On, their newly sworn-in successor Ho Iat Seng, principal officials of the MSAR government, representatives of the local security forces and all walks of life, as well as HKSAR Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor.

At the seeing-off ceremony at the airport, local children presented bouquets of flowers to Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan. Both waved goodbye to the crowd. – Xinhua, MPD
