The Office of the Secretary for Security (GSS) said in an online statement yesterday that the Judiciary Police (PJ) detained a prison guard last Thursday for allegedly pawning a counterfeit watch.

A pawnshop in Nape reported to the Judiciary Police on November 1 that it had been cheated by a man who pawned a fake expensive watch for which he received HK$110,000 on August 27, 2019, PJ spokesman Lai Man Vai said during a press conference yesterday.

According to Lai, the pawnshop discovered that it was a bogus watch after thoroughly checking it and therefore reported the case to the PJ.

Last Wednesday, the suspect was caught at the Barrier Gate checkpoint and taken to the PJ headquarters. The about 26-year-old male suspect surnamed Wong is a local resident who has been working as a prison guard since 2017.
