Gaming operator Galaxy Entertainment Group(GEG) has made a donation of 20 million patacas to Hubei province and will be donating five million patacas to the Macau community to help battle the novel corona virus outbreak, which emerged in Hubei’s provincial capital Wuhan in December.
The company said in a statement today that the donation comes from its Galaxy Entertainment Group Foundation.
The statement said that the 20 million patacas for Hubei, made in coordination with the Liaison Office of the CentralPeople’s Government in Macau, would be used to purchase medical supplies andequipment that are in urgent demand in the province.
The company said that the additional five million patacca donation is to assist the local community in its preventivemeasures against the virus.
The statement said that through collaboration with various associations, the foundation aims to use the donation to help local residents in need, including young children, pupils andthe elderly, in preventing the virus.
According to the statement, GEG has already donated disinfection and hygiene products to the Women’s General Association of Macau and the Fuhong Society of Macau to better prepare their staff inproviding assistance to the community with the sale of facemasks to the public.
Besides adopting protective measures against the virus laid out by the Macau government, the statement said that the company is also providing facemasks and hand sanitizers to its own staff and strengthening disinfection and cleaning in back-of-house areas on its premises.
In addition, the company has also made special arrangements to facilitate urgent annual or additional leave requests of staff members who need to take care of their children and families during this trying period, the statement said.
