Sands China said in a statement yesterday that it has donated 1 million patacas to four social service organisations to help them assist the community’s most vulnerable cope with the fallout from the COVID-19 epidemic.
According to the statement, the four groups – Caritas Macau, Fuhong Society of Macau, Macau Special Olympics and the Association of Parents of People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau – each received 250,000 patacas from Sands China in a ceremony at The Parisian Macao casino-hotel in Cotai on Monday.
The statement said the donations aimed to help the four non-governmental organisations (NGOs) provide financial support to over 500 of their service user families.
The statement quoted Sands China Ltd. President Wilfred Wong Ying-wai as saying during the ceremony that “Macau’s local NGOs have long provided essential services to help care for some of the more vulnerable members of our local community.”
Sands China and a string of other companies and individuals have donated cash and goods to the local government and social service organisations to help them battle the potentially deadly novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) epidemic.
