A nine-year-old local girl became Macau's 39th confirmed COVID-19 case yesterday.
According to a statement by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre late last night, the girl is the daughter of Macau's 34th novel coronavirus disease case.
The statement noted that the girl, her father and brother flew to Manila in November to visit their mother who works in the Philippines. The trio took Cathay Pacific flight CX902 from Manila to Hong Kong on March 18. After arriving in Hong Kong at about 9 p.m. on that day they took a bus from the Hong Kong International Airport to Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. Upon arrival at the Macau checkpoint of the bridge none of them showed any COVID-19 symptoms and, based on the Health Bureau's (SSM) regulations at that time, they were ordered to undergo home quarantine for 14 days. They took bus route 101X to return to their flat in Block I of Wah King Garden estate in Areia Preta district, where each of them has their own room.
The girl tested twice negative for the novel coronavirus, on March 26 and 27. However, she tested positive for the virus yesterday. She is undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of the public Conde de S. Januario Hospital Centre.
