The Macau government has confirmed Macau's 43rd COVID-19 case, a 53-year old local woman.

According to a statement by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre late last night, the woman and her husband travelled to Portugal on February 4 to visit relatives. There, the woman met a relative who was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease on March 26.

The patient and her husband took KLM flight KL1694 (seat 1D) from Lisbon to Amsterdam on March 30 and connecting flight KL887 (seat 5C) to Hong Kong where they arrived later that day. Upon arrival in Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge both showed no COVID-19 symptoms and were directly taken to the Pousada Marina Infante hotel for 14 days for quarantine and medical observation.

The woman tested positive for the novel coronavirus yesterday. She is undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of the Conde de S. Januario Hospital Centre. As a close contact of the patient, her husband has been transferred to a Health Bureau (SSM) quarantine facility for medical observation.
