A female corpse and two dog carcasses were found in a residential flat in Estrada Marginal da Ilha Verde on Monday night, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said in a text message early yesterday morning.
According to Ho’s message, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) reported to the Judiciary on Monday night that they had found a corpse in a flat, and they requested PJ officers to investigate.
The deceased was a 51-year-old local woman surnamed Lou, according to Ho.
According to Ho’s message, Lou lived alone with two dogs. Lou and her elder sister had not seen each other since Chinese New Year in late January. Her sister and Lou’s son, who does not live with her, went to the flat on Monday. They knocked on the door for a long time but no one answered. Since the door was bolted from the inside, a locksmith hired by both was unable to open the door. Therefore, they called the Fire Services Bureau (CB).
After managing to open the door, the firefighters found a skeleton on the floor in the living room. Two dog carcasses were also found in the unit.
According to Ho’s message, the cause of death of the deceased is subject to an official forensic examination. The case has been transferred to the PJ investigation department for follow-up.
The Portuguese-language TV channel of public broadcaster TDM reported in its main newscast last night that a neighbour had repeatedly complained to the authorities about barking dogs in the flat, but to no avail. Apparently, according to the report, the complaints fell on deaf ears and no action to look into the matter was taken.
