An exhibition of local brand Nega C. by local artist Isabella Choi Nga Teng is on display at the Macau Fashion Gallery (MFG) as part of the “2020 Brand Story – Macau Original Fashion Exhibition II” co-organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM).

According to a CPTTM statement, the exhibition provides participants with the opportunity to showcase their brands in their own creative styles and their brands’ concepts as well as to “spread the charm of the very original local brands to the public.”

The “Brand Story” series was first launched in 2017 and five local brands have been selected for this year’s exhibition, namely Lexx Moda, Nega C., ZICS, FAITH & FEARLESS and NO.42. The designs are to be showcased in five phases, with one brand being featured in each phase, according to the statement.

The second phase of the exhibition features women’s fashion label Nega C. founded by Choi in 2011 who focused on designing stage costumes and shoes at first. Choi opened a boutique for women’s wear in 2012 and later expanded to cover ready-to-wear women’s clothes. Choi’s design principle for Nega C. is ‘The life you love, the love you live’, according to information on the gallery’s website.

Choi developed a strong interest in fashion design since she was very young. She studied Fashion Design at the Kingston University in London. She hopes to incorporate creativity into daily life, and understanding it with the right attitude, according to the website.

Choi has decided to use the brand’s mascot “Ball Ball” as the theme for her exhibition, using flower patterns and bright colours to depict her brand’s fresh and lively image. “Ball Ball” is an inspiration from Choi’s dog for her to create this mascot, according to information provided by the gallery.

The exhibition displays a variety of creations, such as scarves and handmade hats, together with Choi’s original clothing series, to show customers and visitors the completeness and diversity of local brands.

The exhibition runs until July 5 at the Macau Fashion Gallery at 47, Rua de S. Roque, S. Lázaro district. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day (except Mondays). Admission is free.

As part of the government’s COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures, all visitors entering the venue have to wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a digital health declaration.
