COVID-19 cases in US top 3 million, cases in Macau stay at 46

The United States' number of confirmed COVID-19 cases went beyond 3 million today, with over 130,000 deaths, worldometers.info reported. 

According to the real-time statistics reference website, the number of officially diagnosed novel coronavirus disease cases in the US stood at 3,041,035 at 3:40 p.m. (Macau time) today, when the country's number of fatalities caused by the contagious disease amounted to 132,981. 

The US accounted for 25.8 percent of the world's 11.7 million confirmed COVID-19 cases and 24.5 percent of the world's 540,881 deaths from the disease respectively. 

Macau has confirmed 46 cases since January 22. Only one of the patients is still in hospital. The Macau Health Bureau (SSM) has classified 44 of the cases as "imported", while two have been classified as cases "connected to imported cases."

Observers have noted that close to 100 percent of people in Macau have been wearing facemasks when out and about since late January.
