An exhibition entitled “City” organised by the Macau Woodblock Print Association (MWP) and sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) is being held at the Jao Tsung-I Academy’s gallery.

The exhibition displays the work of 15 members: Chen Xiao Feng, Mel Cheong Hoi I, Chiang Wai Lan, Judith Elisabeth De Haan, He San Qing, Hsu Yi Hsuan, Katsutoshi Yuasa, Naomi Kubo, Bambi Lam King Ting, Liang Ye Jian, Minako Murata, Ng Man Wai, Sam Wai Peng, Crystal Wong Wai I and Ruby Wu Mei Iok.

Mel Cheong, one of the artists as well as curator of this exhibition, writes in a statement by the association, that the event is entitled “City” because she collected the exhibits from various cities and other places in Asia and elsewhere, such as Fukuoka, Guangxi, Hong Kong, Hubei, Kvam (a town in Norway), Macau, Osaka, Shenzhen, Taichung and Tokyo.

According to Mel Cheong, “City” is not just about a place because artists’ work is always about the people who are surrounding them, their culture or things that they experienced and inspired them

The exhibits are also displayed as postcards at the gallery for visitors to collect for free.

The exhibition runs until August 31 at the gallery at 95, C-D Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily (except Mondays). Admission is free.

As part of the government’s COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures, all visitors entering the venue need to wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a digital health declaration.
