Lawmaker Andrew Chan Chak Mo said yesterday that a government-initiated bill on the management of the communal areas in residential buildings was proposing that any renewal projects for the shared areas of a building must first gain the permission of at least two-thirds of the condominium owners committee.

The legislature’s 2nd Standing Committee held a closed-door meeting at the Legislative Assembly (AL) with government officials yesterday.

The outline of the bill was passed in October last year. It is now being reviewed in detail by the committee.
