The Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR)will further participate in developing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA)and the nation's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)in a practical and orderly manner,Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng said today.
Efforts will be made to continuously enhance Macau's role of facilitating the country's domestic circulation and linking the domestic and international"dual circulation," Ho said at a reception marking the 21st anniversary of Macau's return to the motherland.
The reception, which was attended by hundreds of local government officials, community leaders and mainland officials posted to Macau, was held at the Services Platform Complex for Commercial Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries in Nam Van.
President Xi Jinping earlier this year unveiled the "dual circulation" development pattern, where internal and external markets can reinforce each other, with the domestic market as the mainstay.
This year, in the face of the COVID-19 epidemic, Macau has implemented strict COVID-19 prevention and control policies, Ho noted, pointing out that no COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in Macau and all the 46 novel coronavirus patients have made a full recovery and been discharged from hospital. The Health Bureau has classified 44 of the cases as imported and two as "connected to imported cases." No community outbreak has been reported in Macau.
Macau will further improve its epidemic control efforts in the coming year while adopting pro-active policies and timely measures to push for economic recovery, provide targeted support for small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs), ensure employment and promote a diversified development of the local economy, he noted.
