Taxi offences rise 42.2 pct in H1: Wong
Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak announced yesterday that the police recorded 3,309 cases involving suspected regulatory breaches by taxi drivers during the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 42.2 percent – a whopping increase of 982 cases.According to Wong, 62.2 percent (2,058 cases) of the 3,309 cases concerned overcharging, while 22.9 percent were about cabbies refusing to pick up passengers.Wong said that the remaining 494 cases concerned other violations.
