The government has appointed Ng Wai Han, a deputy director of the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP), as the bureau’s director effective from tomorrow, succeeding Kou Peng Kuan who will head the government’s Legal and Judiciary Training Centre from tomorrow.

According to an executive order published in the Official Gazette (BO) yesterday, Secretary for Administration and Justice André Cheong Weng Chon, who oversees the bureau, has appointed Ng for a one-year term effective from September 1. Cheong signed the executive order on August 15.

Kou has headed the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau since September 2015.

According to Cheong’s executive order published yesterday, Ng holds a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies and a master’s degree in Criminal Law from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou.

Ng joined the public administration in 1999 when she started to work for the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), where she became a deputy director in June 2017.

Ng has been a deputy director of the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau since June 2020. The bureau has three deputy directors.

According to another executive order published in the Official Gazette yesterday, Cheong has appointed Kou as the director of the Legal and Judiciary Training Centre for a one-year term effective from September 1. Cheong signed the executive order also on August 15.

The Legal and Judiciary Training Centre is directly overseen by Cheong. The centre’s director position is currently vacant.

The centre’s director has the same salary as bureau directors as well as those who head the government’s other bureau-level entity.
