The Macau Government Tourism Office said in two statements yesterday that its officials are in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, to promote Macau’s food, MICE and other aspects of the city’s tourism industry.
According to one of the statements, MGTO collaborated with the Macau Cuisine Association and rolled out the “Macau Week in Jiangsu – Taste of Macau Food Promotion” from May 13-26. The statement pointed out that the aim of the event is to attract attention to Macau’s “unique gastronomic brand – Macanese and Portuguese cuisines” and to “radiate Macau’s glamour as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy”.
The statement noted that the event offers 33 Macanese and Portuguese dishes, including Portuguese white codfish balls, grilled Portuguese sausage, Portuguese “caldo verde” (“green broth”) and Macau-style fried rice, for Nanjing residents to try. The event also features an interactive live broadcast of culinary presentations to introduce the essence of Macanese and Portuguese cuisine.
Meanwhile, according to the other statement, MGTO and the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) have already hosted a MICE presentation seminar in Nanjing to present the strength of Macau’s tourism and MICE industries and facilitated networking among industry delegates from both sides, while stressing Macau’s image as a healthy, safe and quality travel destination.
Sands Resort Macao and MGM both said in their respective statements that they are participating in the Macau Week in Jiangsu from today to Monday. The two gaming operators said that they will participate in the event’s Mega Roadshow, and also will offer a series of promotions and activities.
