The Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) said in a statement yesterday that in order to ease the process of nucleic acid testing (NAT) for people with mobility impairments, the government has set up an outreach service team ensure that this segment of the population gets tested.

The statement said that the team started the outreach service yesterday and has tested 2,500 people in 28 different facilities. The statement added that the team will extend its service to those who have mobility impairments and are living in their own homes.

According to the statement, during the citywide NAT, there are seven caring NAT stations for those with special needs, while special caring lines are also available at normal NAT stations for them. The bureau urged those who are living in residential homes but have the ability to go out and get tested to go to the nearest NAT stations themselves or with the assistance from friends or family as soon as possible.

The government’s second round of mandatory nucleic acid testing ends at 3 p.m. today, after which regular testing for COVID-19 will continue.
