From the Macao International Marathon to the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League – Macao, the Macau Grand Prix, and the WTT Macao 2020 – over the years, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has assisted the city in hosting some of the most popular international events in support of the Macau SAR Government’s direction to facilitate local sports development. In addition, GEG has organized various promotional activities to enhance the cross-sectoral integration of tourism and sports, foster the diversification of the tourism industry, and support Macau’s positioning as a World Center of Tourism and Leisure.
Various Promotions
The 2021 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon will be held on December 5. With the support from the event’s organizers – the Sports Bureau of the Macau SAR Government and the General Association of Athletics of Macau, this will be GEG’s 18th consecutive year to title sponsor the Macao International Marathon. Continuing its efforts to enhance the event’s appeal, this year, GEG will add innovative elements and launch various activities to celebrate the Macao International Marathon’s 40th anniversary, including organizing the GEG Macau Cup and handing out prizes to the male and female champion of the Marathon and Half-Marathon’s Macau Athlete Category to show appreciation to the commitment and excellence of local athletes.
Moreover, GEG will continue to sponsor the highly favored Most Creative Costume Award where runners dressed in special costumes related to the 40th anniversary theme will be given the opportunity to win an additional special prize worth MOP10,000. To support the organizers’ new “Fab 40” Macao International Marathon Online Activity Series, GEG will sponsor some of the activities included in the Series and provide a variety of exciting prizes, including a vehicle. Furthermore, GEG will roll out the 2021 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon Carnival for six consecutive days before the Marathon date. To be held in the Food Street of Broadway Macau, the Carnival will include game booths, local delicacies, a series of captivating events, as well as the giveaway of 40 Galaxy Hotel rooms to elevate the Marathon mood. Broadway Macau will also become the venue for bib pick-ups for the third consecutive year.
In addition, this year, GEG has become the title sponsor of the popular Macau Guia Race of the 68th Macau Grand Prix. Galaxy Entertainment Macau Guia Race will use TCR-specification cars, featuring drivers from the TCR Asia Series Championship and Pacific 2.0T Touring Car Series. They will compete against each other in the famous Guia Circuit, bringing thrilling and exciting experience to all racing fans.
Engaging the Community
Last year, GEG became the presenting partner of the WTT Macao 2020, which was a new international sports event in Macau, and was ranked in the top ten international sports news in 2020 by China Central Radio and Television. In line with GEG’s commitment to help enhance the community’s engagement in sports events, GEG invited Macau Special Olympics (MSO) students and their families to the games in hopes of broadening the students’ horizons and to give them the chance to observe the performance of world-class table tennis players.
Meanwhile, during the 14 years of sponsoring the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Macao and the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League – Macao, GEG gave different sectors of the community the opportunity to exchange with representatives from the popular Chinese national team each year while promoting the sport locally through its wide variety of promotional activities. Among those activities, the “My Favorite Galaxy Star Player and Team” Award that GEG has organized for 10 years has been one of the most well-received initiatives by the community.
In addition to local sports events, GEG has also supported the promotion of related sports exchanges in the local community. Over the years, GEG has sponsored the Galaxy Hotel stay of the Chinese Olympic Gold Medalists, and facilitated their exchanges with local young people and different sectors of the community by organizing a wide range of sharing events.
GEG has also been helping its team members maintain a healthy work-life balance and to stay active by holding different types of team member activities and supporting their participation in different sports events and activities. Among the various sports activities, GEG has won the Marathon’s Group Trophy for 16 consecutive years.
Furthermore, GEG endeavors to help make sports accessible by supporting different inclusive sports activities. This May, GEG co-launched the Marathon “Run with a Partner” Training Program with MSO for MSO members and GEG team members from the Runner’s Club to participate in regular marathon training. This year, GEG will also co-organize the “Galaxy Entertainment Group Special Olympics Table Tennis Competition” for the 11th consecutive year. In the future, GEG will continue to uphold its commitment to promote inclusion and support local sports development.
