The Industry and Commerce Association of Macau (INCA) and MGM MACAU co-hosted a signing ceremony and two talks about the launch of “Enjoy Macau” (賞受澳門) smart vending machines in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), at MGM in Nape yesterday afternoon. According to an MGM statement, the project aims to support and promote cooperation between local and GBA enterprises.

The statement said that the project is part of the ongoing series of events entitled “Develop Together with the GBA” (「攜手灣區共發展」), which started three years ago.

MGM China Holdings President Kenneth FengXiaofeng, INCA President Kevin Ho King Lun, INCA Executive Director Ng Wah Wai, INCA Chairman Au Ka Wa and other business representatives as well as government officials attended the ceremony.

According to the statement, Ng and 17 local small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) took part in the signing ceremony. The statement said that more than 150 products were chosen from the 17 SMEs for the vending machines. The products consist of local “creative” and “cultural” items, coffee from Portuguese-speaking countries, and Macau’s “MakMak” tourism souvenirs.

According to a statement by Ho, five “Enjoy Macau” smart vending machines will be installed in Guangzhou’s Huangpu district this year. Ho also pointed out that Guangzhou, as one of the nation’s business hubs and one of the major cities in the GBA, has rich resources and a strong foundation in terms of its productivity and technological innovation. Moreover, Guangzhou’s culture, language and lifestyle are similar to Macau, Ho said, adding he hoped that the project can provide more opportunities for local SMEs to gain access to the GBA market which comprises nine cities in Guangdong and the nation’s two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.

According to a statement by Feng, the hosts set up “Enjoy Macau” smart vending machines because theyare low-budget, low-risk, and convenient, while residents from Guangzhou can purchase Macau products close to home without having to travel to Macau.
