Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has announced in a statement that it held the “Workplace Health and Safety [WHS] and Local Talent Development Celebration Event 2021” at the Ritz Carlton in Galaxy Macau in Cotai.

The event held earlier this month was attended by Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) Director Wong Chi Hong, last week’s statement noted.

The statement pointed out that GEG, in conjunction with the bureau, organised the Hotel and Catering Industry Safety Card Training Programme to enable team members familiarise themselves with WHS knowledge and regulations.

Moreover, the statement noted that GEG and the bureau have jointly launched various seminars and roadshows to enhance team members’ WHS awareness. The final round of the jointly-organised event “Let’s Stretch Out Competition” was also held where a StarWorld Hotel team won the championship. Team members who performed well during the WHS programmes also won prizes, the statement added.

The statement underlined that GEG provided team members with career development and training programmes in a variety of fields. Outstanding participants shared their experience from the development programmes and received certificates and prizes at the event, the statement said.

‘One-off Special Payment’ to benefit 97 pct of team members

In a separate statement released yesterday, the resort operator announced that a “One-off Special Payment” will be awarded to eligible employees, covering about 97 percent of them.

The GEG statement said that the payment is equivalent to a month’s basic salary and “guaranteed tips” if applicable and is payable on January 28. The eligible team members consist of those in the senior manager grade and below, the statement added.

Meanwhile, the statement added that GEG delivered “over one million training hours for its team members” over a number of topics. A total of 95 percent of the team members has obtained the Labour Affairs Bureau’s Occupational Safety Card while GEG’s overall COVID-19 vaccination rate has reached 94 percent.
