Three Filipinos were arrested last Wednesday for stealing two bikes in Rua do Campo, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Leong Chi Seng said during a regular press conference on Wednesday.
Leong said that the three suspects are surnamed Ciencia (non-resident worker), Palmes (jobless, a former non-resident worker) and Perez (foreign passport holder), aged between 31-59. According to Leong, the trio stole two bikes from two Filipino men who had left them in the hallway of a building in Rua do Campo. Leong said that the two victims reported the case to the police, claiming that the bikes were valued at 3,500 patacas in total.
Leong said that after watching the area’s CCTV footage, the police identified the suspects and arrested them in Rua dos Curtidores and Rua do Bocage. Leong said that Perez told the police that she saw the two bikes in the hallway so she rang the two men to move them as she thought they had been discarded. Leong added that the bikes were locked, so the two men had to use a metal saw to cut the locks off the bikes. Leong noted that the police later located the two bikes and the metal saw used to cut the locks.
Leong said that the three suspects, who face theft and property damage charges, have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP).
