All 16 dog parks will reopen during the government’s anti-COVID-19 consolidation period starting tomorrow, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a statement yesterday.

The statement underlined that starting at 00:00 a.m. tomorrow, residents are allowed to walk their dogs in the street as long as they comply with the government’s COVID-19 prevention and control measures. The statement added that people entering the dog parks must wear a KN95 facemask or one with a higher standard, scan the contact-tracing QR code (aka venue QR code), undergo a temperature check and show their green Macau Health Code when entering the parks.

The statement noted that the 16 dog parks will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. during the consolidation period.

The bureau said in the statement that it will adopt measures to limit the flow of people when necessary, so as to avoid a crowd gathering, adding that more IAM workers will be sent to clean and disinfect the parks’ facilities at regular intervals.

Moreover, the bureau urged pet owners that they should keep the environment clean when taking their dogs for a walk in the street, adding that if their dogs need to excrete outside their home, they should place an absorbent pad or newspaper on the ground and guide their dogs to urinate and defecate on it. Afterwards, they should wrap the pad or newspaper properly and dispose of it in dog excreta collection points, according to the statement.

Govt to open 4 walking areas

Meanwhile, the bureau announced in another statement yesterday that some of its public facilities, including the Macau Reservoir Walking Trail, Guia Hill Fitness Trail, and two cycling lanes in Cotai will reopen for people to walk only during the consolidation period, so as to relieve their pressure of staying in their homes for a long time.

The bureau urged people in the statement to use the facilities at staggered hours, adding that measures will be taken to limit the number of people using the sites, in order to avoid a crowd gathering.

According to the statement, the fitness trails and the two cycle lanes open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 0:00. Walkers must wear their KN95 facemask or one of a higher standard, and scan the venue QR code while undergoing a temperature check when they enter the areas, adding that they must hold a green Macau Health Code, the statement underlined.

The statement stressed that in line with the Health Bureau’s (SSM) COVID-19 prevention and control guidelines, only walking will be allowed along the fitness trails and the two bike lanes, underlining that people will not be permitted to jog, cycle, use the exercise equipment or do any other vigorous sports activities.
